Luxury vinyl plank has become the go-to floor for a lot of Atlanta-area homeowners, and for good reason. It's waterproof, it doesn't swell in humid summers the way laminate can, and it shrugs off muddy paws and spilled drinks.
It works almost anywhere: kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, finished basements, and whole main floors. Because it's a floating floor in most cases, it can often go over an existing hard floor after proper prep.
The catch is that LVP shows every dip and hump underneath it. Planks flex over low spots and click joints can separate over high ones. That's why a good install starts with pulling up the old flooring and leveling the subfloor, not with the first plank.
Finish details matter too: expansion gaps at the walls, baseboards or quarter-round to cover them, and clean transitions at doorways. Get those right and an LVP floor will look sharp for many years.
